Ian entered the industry in the 1970s as an assistant director working on television drama with Austrian Television in Vienna, and worked subsequently in various jobs at Visnews and Thames Television.  He has been a producer-director and writer since 1982 and has made over 350 programmes of all types, including broadcast drama and documentary as well as training and corporate work for a wide range of blue-chip clients.

 

He has produced and directed a number of series for terrestrial and digital channels, amongst others, the six part series The Chef’s Apprentice shown on network ITV and DIscovery USA, The Best of British shown on network BBC, the 26 part Gumdrop co-produced with Ravensburger Film and TV on Channel 4, Takeaway for Carlton Digital Channels, and episodes of Rooted for Channel 5.  He developed, wrote scripts for, and was an Executive Producer of the worldwide success Mona the Vampire, a 65 x half-hour animation series.  Several of his programmes have won awards at the Chicago and New York Film Festivals.

 

Recently he has written and directed a low-budget feature film Children of the Lake, and assisted in the launch of a digital television channel.

 

Ian also runs sessions for the National Film and Television School, and Raindance, and is a mentor for First Light, the UK Film Council's children's film-making initiative.
